Spend a day at the Viapori shipyard! There is a plenty to see and experience in Suomenlinna every day of the year, as the landscape and atmosphere change with the seasons.

After the busy summer season, Suomenlinna is quieting down, but work is just beginning at the shipyard, as the historic coastal fleet base comes to life as shipowners arrive to renovate their vessels for next summer.

The Viapori shipyard located on Susisaari Island in Suomenlinna is in use all year round, but as it is a construction site it’s not normally open to the public.

Now, it’s a unique opportunity to visit the oldest dockyard in Finland and one of the oldest still operating ones in the world.

During the day, you will hear about the current operations of the historic Viapori shipyard, learn about the restoration of traditional wooden coastal cargo ships, and see docked sailing ships such as Helena and Astrid.

Suomenlinna can be reached by HSL ferry, the tickets are not included in the admission fee.
