Eeva-Liisa Puhakka : Wild Blue (Hall 1) and Raana Lehtinen: Eternity in the Garden (Hall 2)
Puhakka’s exhibition explores Latvian Blue cattle and Scandinavian mythology. In Lehtinen’s paintings, memories blend with new observations of the surroundings.
The video of the blue cows is the first part of a three-part video work series.
The blue cows and the old hides meet in these works at a time when questions of nature, the status of animals, and humanity’s relationship to the environment are becoming ever more relevant.”
In Raana Lehtinen’s exhibition Eternity in the Garden, memories of youth intertwine with fresh observations of the surrounding environment.
In oil and watercolour paintings, the everyday nature of the nearby landscape becomes a stage for something wondrous.
Lehtinen grew up, and continues to live, in a suburb of Eastern Helsinki, and the settings of her paintings are consequently found in fragmented woodland and urban parks.
