Susanna Kesänen, Amanda Vähämäki & Klaudia Denisov: Drawing Room

The starting point for the exhibition is a room: a place, space or memory, which exists in present or the past.

Rooms from different stages of artists’ lives function as spatial premises for the artistic work, which focus on memories, dreamlike scenes ans subjective or collective experiences.

Susanna Kesänen’s pencil drawings depict a small staff dormitory on the upper floor of a London hotel. The autobiographical comics are based on the artist’s gap year after high school in the early 2000s and focuses on feelings of insecurity and not belonging. The comics are part of a future graphic novel.

Klaudia Denisov’s works are based on dull ans dreary feelings and experiences, which she portrays as different building structures . In addition to woodcut and silkscreen prints as well as ink and pencil drawings, pieces from her upcoming graphic novel are also exhibited.

Amanda Vähämäki’s pencil drawings observe a nearby forest through the window, shifting on the border of sleep and wakefulness. The exhibition presents a selection of pages from Vähämäki’s upcoming graphic novel.

Drawing room is the first exhibition shared between the three artists.
